Why do Sheffield viewers need to re-tune?

As part of the technical preparations for the rollout of Freeview High Definition (HD), changes are being made at the Sheffield transmitter.

Sheffied re-tune - Wednesday 17 March

On Wednesday 17 March changes are being made to the Freeview TV service from the Sheffield transmitter. Everyone with a Freeview TV or box receiving signals from the Sheffield transmitter needs to re-tune to continue to receive BBC digital services. This re-tune is required as part of the technical preparations for the launch of Freeview HD services from the Emley Moor transmitter in the Yorkshire TV region. Freeview HD is being rolled out in stages across the UK. For more information on the rollout of Freeview HD see www.freeview.co.uk.

Regular re-tuning

It is good practice to re-tune from time to time to pick up new channels. Satellite, cable and analogue TV services will not be affected.
